Nice to meet you…
It is a wonderful thing to realize what your life is about, and to set forth doing it!
I believe creativity is a natural way of human being.
The more we practice, the more refined and wonderful our creations can be. When I stand back, I am in awe of all that I have made. Here are a few things:
Own It SLC - Since 2019 this group has supported the creative voices of SLC’s Recovery Community. Specializing in live performance, workshops, audio recording, and collaboration we help artists own their expression.
4 children - Each time I gave life to them, they gave life to me. Mothering these children continues to be one of my favorite parts of being alive. The undisturbed births I have claimed are a source of strength which no one can take away.
More Journals Than I Can Count - The story of my life is always being written. First and foremost this story is for me, to fall in love, to tell the truth, and to remember.
100 bad paintings - In school my professor said, “You’ve gotta paint 100 bad paintings before you can paint one good one.” I’ve gotta be getting close.
Creative Retreats - I’ve been honored to curate and co-create many desert retreats, where we unplug from everything and plug into ourselves. We do this using writing, yoga, walking, group meals, shared stories, and nature.
Chrysalisbreak - A 4 year project where I wrote my way out of disordered eating. You can find the audio version here
Medicine of the Ordinary - a book of small poems with universal meaning. This lil book highlights the magic and medicine of daily life as a mom, a writer and woman.
This Healthy Body - I call it the infinite game. “The relationship with your body may be the only one you can be guaranteed to have for your lifetime.”
A few other things about me…
I studied Art and Education at the University of Utah graduating in 2010. I am mentored by local poet and GSL advocate Nan Seymour since 2014. She taught me to hold space, name details, and point to the moon. Her River Writing training helped refine my role as facilitator. I am a life long learner, always seeking to refresh my offerings.
